When I first saw this parrot at the sanctuary, I inquired if her name was Sunset because she glowed like the setting sun. Close, but her name is actually Sunrise. She is a hybrid macaw, a cross between a scarlet macaw and a blue and gold. While beautiful, she would not exist in the wild since the different macaw species don't cross-breed. This is man's interference with nature. Sadly, hybrids are more susceptible to disease, behavior problems, etc.
